2014 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

2014 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

Yesterday, I visited the 90th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. From adorable animals (look at the precious trio of alpacas) to the regal horse show, the annual event is a must-see for animal lovers and foodies.

I also really enjoyed seeing the unusual vegetables. I’ve really gotten into organic and farmer’s market veggies and the ones on display here were so incredible! From the fair’s largest pumpkin to weird gourds, I was concocting delicious soup recipes in my head!

Another must-see at the fair are the butter sculptures. These two were my favourites!

Last, but certainly not least, if you have a chance to catch the Royal Horse Show, you will not be disappointed! There are still a couple events on today. Last night, I watched the Weston Canadian Open – International Show Jumping competition. The horses were incredibly agile and it was amazing to see the smallest horse, Coral Reef Via Volo take the grand prize! Seeing an event like this in person is so exciting and a unique opportunity for Toronto residents.

The Royal Winter Fair is on until Sunday, November 16 and is a great way to stay warm this weekend, learn about agriculture, catch the adorable superdogs and eat some delicious funnel cake. (I need to revisit for some of that!)
