3 Prom or wedding outfits under $100

Prom and wedding season is in full bloom, but for girls on a budget, there are tons of ways to get a red carpet look for a discount price. I went to Marshall’s with the challenge of finding three dresses for under $100 and styling them for an event. Here’s how to be beautiful for only one bill.

Here are 3 looks that feature dresses found at Marshall’s for UNDER $100.

Look #1 – the LBD (Little Blue Dress)

blue silk dress by greylinThere’s a new LBD in town – the Little Blue Dress. Cobalt is striking and so fresh for summer. It works on all skin tones and pairs great with black, white and both metals. This dress is by Greylin and was only $79… at a price like that, it’s hard to believe it’s 100 per cent silk! The peplum flatters all body types, but looks especially great on athletic or hourglass figures. I styled the dress with a pair of toe cap, ankle strap stilettos from Joe Fresh, and drew attention to the back cut outs with a backwards necklace, which was inspired by Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar red carpet look.

watercolour dress look

For the second short dress look, I wanted to tie in the watercolour print trend. Photographic prints are hot right now, but might be dating in prom or wedding pictures. A muted watercolour print is trendy yet elegant, and this babydoll dress by Jessica Simpson cost only $49! I wanted to play up the girliness with pastel and pearl accessories, and a turquoise box clutch by Anna Dello Russo. The accessories really stand out in this look, so I kept my shoes simple and nude, with a touch of shimmer. This dress is great for pear-shaped or hourglass figures, as it will emphasize a small waist.

united nude shoes

The last look is inspired by the minimalist trend. The silhouette is straight, but feminine with the sheer draping. Mint is the hottest hue for spring, and this dress by Kenneth Cole will photograph amazingly for only $59. I paired the simple dress with a pair of United Nude Eamz sandals for an avant garde touch and a vintage magazine clutch.

There you have it! Three inexpensive prom or wedding outfits that you could actually wear again. There’s no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress you might only wear once, when you can accessorize a bargain and incorporate your personality into the look.

Beautiful dresses, I like the second look with the watercolour dress, that fabric’s so nice!
And the heels in the last look, strange but/and lovely (What should I say actually, strange really isn’t the opposite of lovely I think..)
