Donatella Versace

Today, the Versace for H&M collection finally came out in stores! This look is classic Versace, and reminds me of Gianni’s heyday in the 1990s.

I’m wearing the black medallion dress ($179).  I tried on a pile of dresses and none of them looked good.  I found the proportions to be off, and they’re not made for a woman’s body. I’m going to be honest, I’m a size 2/4, and even I found the fit of these clothes to be unflattering and hard to pull off.  They were also sized small, and many of the zippers/boning were already broken!  Just something to keep in mind, so buyer beware!

I did like the way this dress in particular fit, because it has a classic silhouette and didn’t squash any of my curves! I also liked the gold button detailing, which is more subtle than the flamenco fringe and pleather on other styles.

I accessorized with the gold medallion bracelet ($34.95).  The bracelet is a beautiful piece. I can’t get over how heavy the bracelet is, and it’s an amazing price for an iconic design.

I couldn’t resist picking up the matching medallion choker.  The greek key design is a big statement piece, but I would love to wear the gaudy choker with a flowing grecian-style draped gown.

My gold shoes are from GUESS, but I like how the metallic material echos the gold hardware of the dress.  I’m so big on colour, I couldn’t believe the only dress I bought was an LBD!  But I’m happy that this “classic” Versace design (which reminds me of the safety pin dress Elizabeth Hurley wore), can be the perfect LBD for cocktail parties.
