Cafe Cancan Toronto Review

A couple weekends ago, a few bloggers joined for a lovely Sunday brunch. We checked out a new spot on Harbord Street in Toronto, Café Cancan. The restaurant was colourful, and the food was equally lively! I’m sharing my Cafe Cancan Toronto Review in case you’re hoping to check it out!

I’m wearing a beaded shirt dress from Banana Republic, which I picked up in New York City, a pair of gold leather loafers from Winners (similar gold loafers here under $25!), and a purple Kate Spade New York bag.

This outfit was perfect for a fancy Sunday brunch, but I could easily glam it up even more with a clutch and strappy sandals. I love the beading on this dress and how it matched the chic surroundings.

Cafe Cancan Toronto has a beautiful pink door that immediately stands out, and matches its big-sister restaurant, Piano Piano, across the road. Both were designed by Tiffany Pratt, who if you follow on Instagram, is known for her colourful palette. Inside, the restaurant has mauve-pink walls, giant mirrors, floral wallpaper and gorgeous teal blue banquettes. The pillows were so fun, and I loved the confetti speckled floor.

On the table, the chic white marble tables are the perfect backdrop, and are made to be instagrammed. I also loved the silver place settings and textured pink glasses. Funnily enough, I went to Planta the day after, and realized that they had the same glasses in green!

After a massive instagram-sesh, we all ordered our coffees and teas. I had a latte and it was great, though I wish they had sugar bowls already on the table. It was a bit busy that morning so it took a while to flag down our waitress.

I ordered the Steak ‘N’ Egg, three other ladies ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict, while Annika of Fernweh Society, ordered the Ceci et Cela. I really enjoyed my steack and eggs. I found the steak was really delicious, well cooked and seasoned. There weren’t too many fries on my plate, but overall, it was a decent value and large size for a brunch menu. The girls loved their salmon eggs benny, and it looked delicious! I found that the food was very much French Bistro Fare, but it was very well done!

My only gripe was that it took nearly an hour to receive our food after ordering. I felt bad because we were taking up a large table! I noticed there was only one server running out to tables, so that could be part of the issue.

In order to get a table at Cafe Cancan Toronto, I would highly suggest going 15 minutes before the restaurant opens. We were able to get pictures outside, and get the coveted booth by the window. They don’t really take reservations, so you need to line up and wait.

I think that Cafe Cancan Toronto is the perfect setting for a girls’ get together. It might be a bit too much pink for my boyfriend, but I found the food was pretty worth it. I want to visit another time for dinner and sit out on the cute patio too!

It was lovely getting together with a bunch of bloggers, including Cristina from Shoe Tease, Diana of Dianashealthyliving, Annika from Fernweh Society and Chloe of xochloegordon. It was so lovely seeing Chloe again! We hung out a few times in Ottawa, and it was so lovely to welcome her to the Toronto blogging community and catch up. I’m very grateful that for the most part, the blogging community is very amicable, and open to trading photos and helping each other out!

On another note, if you visit Cafe Cancan Toronto, you can almost guarantee to find some style and food bloggers there! The setting is so dreamy and pastel, it’s the perfect photo opp. Let me know in the comments below what restaurant you’re dying to try this summer!
