Damask print dress

I’ve always been drawn to damask prints. I’m currently in the process of putting up new damask wallpaper in my bathroom, and I fell in love with all the different damask prints I saw when I travelled through dozens of castles in Germany, Austria and Czech Republic. Damasks date back to the Byzantine era, where they were produced and traded in Damascus. There is something regal and elegant about the print, which is what instantly drew me to this dress.

damask dress with collar

My dress is c/o SheInside, and I love the way the collar was accented by a brooch. I paired it with my new Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC, a rosegold and blue-face watch from Macy’s, and metallic tights c/o Silks. It was warmer this weekend, so I could easily throw on a lighter jacket on top of this look.

This dress has a thick stretchy fabric, which was warm and comfortable to wear. While it was a little short on my frame, my metallic tights offered great coverage and warmth! I love how the flecks of gold also added to this look.

I decided to shoot in the neo-gothic archways at the University of Toronto. I could only imagine how the walls and furniture of similar stone castles in Europe would be decked out in decadent damask as well.
