Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s top 10 fashion moments in Australia New Zealand tour

Not since the Royals’ trip to Canada have we gotten such a large dose of Duchess fashion. Kate Middleton pulled out all the stops on Baby George’s first Royal tour of Australia and New Zealand, and every day, I looked forward to seeing what she was wearing. I love that she has been embracing colour. She wore green and teal coats a couple times, as well as a few bright yellow numbers. It might be approaching winter down under, but she is definitely hitting all of the spring trends. Here are my top ten fashion moments from Kate Middleton’s Australia and New Zealand tour.

The Royals arrive into Adelaide

10. We got to see the Royals’ cool side when Wills and Kate took to the skate park in Adelaide, Australia. They also took turns at the turntable, scratching records. I know I’d listen to DJ Duchess Middy. Kate is looking perfect for spring with her favourite LK Bennett Natalie raffia clutch and pale pink separates by one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen.

9. On the last day of their tour, the Duke and Duchess celebrated ANZAC Day before departing. Kate wore a simple Michael Kors coat, and Alexander McQueen shoes.

8. Kate Middleton might have committed a fashion faux-pas on her final night in Australia, where she wore a Lela Rose white dress to the Government House. It would be expected to wear a local designer (or at least one from the Commonwealth), but instead, she opted for this white sheath dress featuring beautiful circular lace overlay by the American designer. I’m not a huge fan of the black shoes and clutch, and thought a colour would have been more spring-appropriate, but the dress is so pretty, it had to make my list!

7. Kate looked like the epitome of casual chic on the rugby field in New Zealand with a crochet white sweater by Jonathan Saunders, and grey sneakers (sneakers!!!) by Mint Velvet. This look is easy to replicate on your own, with well-fitting casual pieces and upscale sneaks. A blowout wouldn’t hurt either!

6. Kate once again showed off her sporty side on the cricket pitch at the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Christchurch. She looks great in red, and I like the petal peplum shape of her Luisa Spagnoli jacket. Kate has worn this look before, in 2011 when the Duke and Duchess visited their former alma mater, Saint Andrews University. What’s cool is that she had the dress she wore in 2011 converted into a longer, more appropriate skirt. Kate also paired the look with a Mulberry Bayswater clutch.

5. The whole world let out a colletive “Awwww” at the sight of this picture. Wills looks great in a gingham shirt, and little George was adorable in his striped polo. Kate’s beautiful buttery yellow eyelet lace dress is elegant and perfect for Easter. Eyelet lace is a trend I’ve noticed on both casual and formal wear, and the vintage 1960s hourglass silhouette looks great on her slim figure. She paired them with comfy Stuart Weitzman Minx wedges.

4. The Duchess donned a neon frock by the London-based designer, Roksanda Ilincic. She once again paired it with her LK Bennett Natalie raffia clutch and a simple half-updo. The only thing I didn’t like were her boring LK Bennett Sledge pumps in nude. I know they’re her favourites, but I would love to see a version in a single sole or a metallic heel to update the look. I love the simple sheath design of this dress, as well as the white colourblock and square collar. I never thought I would see her in neon, but I’m loving the youthful colour on her. William said she looked like a banana, but I think the colour looked amazing on her skin tone and pleased the people, as gold is one of Australia’s colours.

2. Kate Middleton looked amazing in this blue poppy printed dress by LK Bennett (sorry ladies, all sold out!), blue shoes also by LK Bennett, and blue box clutch by Oroton for their trip to Brisbane. Mindy Kaling also wore this dress (she did wear it first!) and joked about it on Instagram. I’d love to see the two in the same room, I feel like they both have a chic ladylike style and good senses of humour!

The Royal Tour-Day One

1. From the moment the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with little baby George Louis stepped off the plane in Wellington, New Zealand, I was so excited. Kate looked gorgeous in a ravishing red coat by Catherine Walker (one of Diana’s favourite designers), a pillbox hat by Gina Foster, and a fern brooch borrowed from the Queen. The brooch was a gift to the Queen from the Women of Auckland during HM’s Commonwealth tour in 1953-1954. Diana wore Catherine Walker many times when she visited Australia and New Zealand, and Kate wore the Russian Greatcoat style beautifully. She also handled a wardrobe malfunction with grace (and showed off her enviably toned post-baby thighs) while carrying the cutest little Prince in her arms. This look will become one of her iconic fashion moments, and I can only hope she will revisit Canada again soon.

Also, if you are looking to get one of George’s items for your little one, the Kangaroo backpack he was spotted with will be in stock again soon.
