Get the Look for Less: Chiara Ferragni of the Blonde Salad

Every morning, I like to wake up, check my emails, social media accounts and read the latest news, as well as read posts from my favourite fashion bloggers. Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad is always an inspiration. A bit of an aspirational fantasy, with her designer clothes and haute handbags, she’s glam yet approachable. I’ve followed her throughout university and while establishing my own blog. This look is inspired by a recent post by Chiara, Front yard dream, and combines pieces to get the look at a very low cost. I love how this look is appropriate for shopping and for a night out… which was perfect since I spent the day shopping with a friend and then I attended the launch of Cove 31, a new nightlife hotspot in Toronto.

I loved Chiara’s black lace dress, and thankfully, I own one very similar. With its lace sleeves and gorgeous scalloped lace hem, the dress is almost a dead ringer for Chiara’s (except that mine is a thicker cotton lace) and is from H&M and cost only $35 (last season, but similar here).

I loved the way she piled on warm gold necklaces. I’m wearing a vintage pendulum necklace and a mirror necklace from Forever 21. I fell in love with her Pamela Love falcon claw pendant, and her stunning vintage Chanel necklace, but since both pieces are way out of my budget, I pulled off the layered look by varying the lengths (just like Chiara) and trying to stay within that same warm, bright gold tone.

I’ve always wanted the Ray-Ban Clubmaster glasses, but they don’t work for my face shape. I imitated her look with a pair of vintage wayfarers that can be found at any fast fashion or vintage shop.

Last but not least, I wanted to add some summery colour into my look and imitate her floral 3.1 Phillip Lim pashli satchel. Lo and behold, I found an old bag from Liz Claiborne (believe it or not!) that fit the bill. I bought it a while ago for about $40 at Winners. While it isn’t anywhere near as gorgeous as the pashli, I find that splurging on a printed bag isn’t wise, since I always get bored of prints and like to switch things up!

Chiara’s look cost well over $2000… but mine… under $100!

These pics were taken by my friend Dasha Kova while we were perusing vintage shops on Ossington Avenue in Toronto. Afterwards, we headed to the launch of Cove 31, a new Toronto nightclub at 31 Mercer Street.

We had fun sipping amazing signature cocktails (my favourite was the Campari one, which reminded me of Milan) and listening to an amazing performance by a live band.

The decor of the club was minimalist and underwater themed. I loved the sleek white booths and jellyfish lighting fixtures.

We ended the night with a cup of tea and delicious seafoam-coloured macarons! Almost too delicious to eat.

If you live in Toronto, Cove 31 will be having a special long weekend party, IMMERSION, on Sunday May 19, a great way to celebrate May 2-4!

I like this look, it’s cute and I’ve always loved flowers and lace. Especially your bag, beautiful. 🙂
Haha and that jellyfish lampshade is sooo awesome! :O I want to have that in my own room!
