GUESS Queen Street Flagship Store Opening feat. Keshia Chanté

Last night, I attended the invite-only opening of the new flagship GUESS store on Queen Street West. The event was sponsored by FLARE magazine and a portion of the evening’s proceeds went to the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research, or CANFAR.  Guests could donate $5 to CANFAR and would receive 20% off their purchases, and a giftbag!

Guests were given the red-carpet treatment with a stop & repeat entrance, as well as welcome cocktails… not to mention the french macaroons that satisfied my sweet tooth all night long!

The store wasn’t cutting edge in terms of retail design, or the merchandise inside it.  I was disappointed with their limited selection of items.  It seems to me that they never carry the cute jean/gingham bustiers featured in their ads… Most of the focus was on their jeans and FLARE magazine’s fashion editor, Liz Cabral, “FLARE Editor’s picks”

I loved the selection of watches at this new store, and ended up picking out a gold-tone watch, I couldn’t help myself, especially when it was for charity.

Guests included fashion stylists, bloggers and tv personalities like Aliya-Jasmine of MTV and a reporter from Sun News, who was also wearing a layered yellow dress like myself.  Great fashion minds think alike?

Guests were treated to a performance by Canadian recording artist, Keshia Chante.

She performed her two latest singles, Table Dancer and Set U Free from her upcoming album, Night & Day.  It was Keshia’s 23rd birthday, and we got a surprise appearance from Stereos, who came to sing her a Happy Birthday.

Afterwards, I had the opportunity to interview Chanté for Women’s Post, and she was so sweet!

I was impressed with how she spent her birthday working, and taking her time to speak to the press.  She is well suited for her position as the youth ambassador for CANFAR and judging by the fact that all the bonus gifts were gone, I’d say the night was a success!
