Gustav Klimt’s Kiss

My favourite painting (a declaration that is very hard to make for me) is Gustav Klimt’s TheĀ Kiss. I have always been a fan of the Austrian symbolist painter, but became obsessed with his art when I saw the Kiss and many of his pieces in the Belvedere Museum when I visited Vienna. I enjoyed his pieces so much, that when I was in Venice (a cultural ally to Vienna), I dragged my boyfriend and caught a second Klimt exhibition where I lay my eyes upon Judith and the Head of the Holofernes. She glared back at me with her sultry, seductive eyes. There is something so decadent and erotic about Klimt’s paintings, they truly embody the spirit of femininity with themes of motherhood, love and sexuality present in many of his works. It was Klimt’s 150th birthday in 2012, and Klimt exhibits around the world celebrated his genius. I am inspired by his portrayal of female beauty, and the romantic themes behind his work, particularly in his Golden Age..

Keeping with my theme of romance and Valentine’s Day, I am wearing these amazing leggings from Romwe, featuring a print of Klimt’s most famous piece. To compliment the statement leggings, I’m wearing a vintage camisole, an inexpensive blazer from Urban Planet, leather booties from Amsterdam and a gold filigree collar.

I wanted to compliment the ornate gold aspects of the painting with my accessories. This necklace was a Christmas gift, and adds a bit of glam to a simple blazer and cami combo. I am wearing my hair in a sock bun (video tutorial here), and wore purple liquid eyeliner for a flirty touch.

The print of these leggings is vivid. It doesn’t capture the textures and layers to Klimt’s actual painting, but I still love the amazing print. I had so many ladies looking at my legs in awe when I wore these out shopping.

sakuraWhile Spring feels like months away, I was in awe of how this mall had real cherry blossoms blooming in planters. It was the perfect romantic setting, and immediately reminded me of my visit to Vienna in springtime. The beautiful city was filled with trees with cherry blossoms and magnolia trees, making the ornate Baroque city that much more romantic.
