Jenny Packham Fall 2012 Bridal Collection

I fell in love with Jenny Packham’s designs when Blair wore one of her dresses on Gossip Girl.  I fell in love with that same dress once again when it was worn by a real Princess, Kate Middleton.  Packham’s latest bridal collection embodies why I love her design aesthetic.  She creates elegant, weightless gowns that are feminine and dripping in vintage-inspired bling.

Canadian blog, Wedding Obsession showed some of Jenny Packham’s designs from her Fall 2012 Bridal collection, and I have to agree with the blog, the designs are ornate and beautiful.

The Iris gown is simply beautiful.  I love the asymmetrical shoulder, the chiffon draping and the way the bead strands just hang off the dress.

Dresses with short sleeves are a big trend, and the Willow gown has an ethereal vintage feel.

The Luna gown has beadwork in a stunning peacock pattern.  This looks like it’s straight from the 1920s.  I would style it with a feather fascinator or an authentic cap veil.

Damask is my absolute favourite dress from the collection.  I can’t get over the beaded cap sleeves and the simple elegance of this retro-inspired frock.

While I know the Nymph dress isn’t for everyone, you can’t help but adore this sweet retro frock.  I think it would be amazing done in a soft pastel colour for bridesmaids dresses!

I decided to write about bridal today because I’m off to a wedding gown fitting… Don’t jump to any conclusions! I’m modeling for a Bridal show this weekend for Dash Weddings and I’m excited to feel like a princess all day long.

It’s interesting how so many wedding designers including the queen of bridal, Vera Wang, have moved away from ivory and cream in their collections for fall.  Either they’re chanelling vintage gowns, or maybe it’s to give more options to second-time brides or the pale people who would look ghostly in white!  Regardless, it’s important to think of these dresses outside the context of bridal and appreciate them for their aesthetic quality.
