Keukenhof

This weekend, I visited the “most beautiful springtime park”, the Keukenhof. With over 7 million bulb flowers in bloom, this park was an experience for the eyes and the nose, and I honestly think they should market a scent to Chanel.

I dressed for the occasion, wearing a white crochet lace dress from H&M, floral printed tights from Forever XXI, rain booties and floral headbands.

There were gardens full of tulips, with different breeds and colours that were gorgeous.

But I couldn’t get over the aromas of the hyacinth. I also couldn’t get over how a colourful and vibrant place like this can exist in cloudy, rainy, and gloomy Holland.

There was a flower parade on Saturday. It’s an annual event and it was fun to see the creative way they used bulb flowers to decorate floats. I’ve always dreamed of going to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, but this was a nice treat to see while visiting the park.

At the entrance of the park, there’s a cute Glockenspiel that makes it feel like Disneyworld… there’s even people in costumes nearby.

In addition to the bulbs going outside, there were pavilions showcasing different breeds of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, orchids and amaryllis. There were also creative and dynamic floral arrangement displays.

This year’s theme of the park was Poland, the Ukraine (who are hosting Euro 2012), as well as the music of Chopin. This flower portrait was spectacular!

This was literally a bed of cut hyacinth flowers. It smelled divine.

Although nothing could parallel the aromas wafting from the fields of hyacinth growing at the border of the park.

Inside the park were numerous landscaped gardens, some with themes and sculpture pieces to add structure and interest to the manicured flowerbeds.

Who could resist those neon Cambridge satchels? They definitely dressed for the park.

Jumping for joy.

An adorable tourist trap. I was happy to finally go up a windmill. Watch out for Don Quixote in the ball cap. He’s working undercover now.

This is spring. Sadly, the park closes on the 20th of May. I’m already planning to go back.
