Mary Kay Fall 2015 + Holiday Gift Ideas

I love fall makeup. From rich lipsticks to indulgent skin care, the Mary Kay Fall 2015 makeup collection was perfectly on the mark with its berry-hued lipsticks reminiscent of the 90s, and a few duochrome shadows in their famous quads. Here are some of my favourite products from the Mary Kay 2015 collection.

First thing I fell in love with are the Velvet Lip Crème lipsticks from the Limited Edition City Modern Collection. All of the shades are velvety soft and very pigmented. I love all three of these products, but my favourite is Berry Stylish (far left swatch). In the centre is Oh So Currant (a perfect 90s berry tone), and to the right is my every day look, Naturally Chic. These lipsticks are moisturizing and so easy to put on. I adore the curved applicator, which makes putting them on in the car of without a mirror fullproof!

The nail polish from the City Modern collection goes perfectly with the lipstick. I’m not totally in love with these shades, except for the pearlescent finish of the Polished Pearls nail lacquer on the right.

My second favourite product from the Mary Kay Fall 2015 City Modern Collection are these shadows. I like that the quads come with a mix of duochrome metallic shades, a highlight and a matte shade as well to add variety to your look. The makeup is highly pigmented (especially the metallic shades), but is prone to fallout.

I’ve swatched the City Sophisticate quad above and I adore adore adore using this. My absolute favourite colour from the quad is the metallic mauve on the top, followed closely by the metallic bronze on the bottom. The metallic pink (second from top) is also a great mid-tone colour as well. Very unique and beautifully arranged!

The second eye color palette, Metro Modern was a slight miss for me. I figure this could give a great metallic smokey eye, but I don’t have the opportunity to play around with that as much. But all is forgiven because I am so in love with the darker metallic mauve shade on the top. I find myself mixing that shade in the crease with the lighter metallic mauve from the City Sophisticate palette for a stunning metallic day look!

Next up from the City Modern collection are the matching his and hers Cityscape Fragrances. The Cityscape Eau de Parfum for her has top notes of Bergamot, Apricot and Violet Leaves, followed by middle notes of Phantomia Orchid Scent TREK® and Peony. At the heart of this fragrance are basenotes of Sandalwood, Angelica and Amber. To me, what stands out in this scent is the combination of peony, sandalwood, bergamot and amber. It’s a very deep, balanced floral scent that’s perfect for the fall weather. I personally love the elegant, minimalistic bottle. The collection also has a matching dry oil mist, which I’ve been using on my legs and arms for a light dusting of fragrance and moisture.

The matching Cityscape Cologne is the perfect compliment to the womens’ fragrance. Top notes include Italian Bergamot and French Lavender, the bergamot matching the ladies’ version, while middle notes include Whiskey Barrel Accord and Orange Flower. At the heart, Cedarwood and Mediterranean Rockrose give this fragrance a masculine, floral touch. To me, what stands out is the orange flower and cedar. This fragrance definitely smells like cedar and is so fresh… and sometimes it surprises me and I get a whiff of whiskey or the softer bergamot. I love the cologne a lot and I’m excited to have my boyfriend try it out! I would definitely recommend it because the scent is very unique.

Last but not least, Mary Kay’s Timewise Microdermabrasion Plus Set is a two step system which includes a refining cream and pore minimizer. The product smells very delicate and while I haven’t done a full test on my skin (my pores are so ridden with acne and blackheads!), my mom has been using it and I will update you with her progress. I think this is a great value at only $55, and definitely worth a try for the price!

Now, moving on to the Mary Kay Holiday 2015 products, which are pre-packagaged and perfect for gift-giving!

First up, we have the Mary Kay Lotion & Lip Balm Gift set in Berry & Cream. This scent was hands-down my favourite. The scent is sweet, but not too sweet. The other scents, especially Sugar & Spice are TOO sweet for my taste, but does not have that artificial smell of your typical mall-brand body lotions. The apple & Pear scent is very fresh and tart, and would make a great gift for a little niece. I like how they’re already packaged and come with a coordinating lip balm, that is silky, not sticky!

Next, we have the Limited Edition Mary Kay Cream & Sugar Gift Set. I really liked the scent of the Marshmallow body whip… surprisingly it was sweet but not too overwhelming. I wouldn’t use it on my whole body, but would keep it at my desk to soothe dry hands and elbows. I wasn’t a huge fan of the smell or stickiness of the body scrub. It smelled like chocolate and was overwhelmingly sweet. I would be a bit afraid to use this exfoliator with such a heavy scent on delicate areas or freshly saved skin, so would save it for dry knees and elbows instead. I also found the stickiness a bit off-putting but there were soooo many sugar and cocoa pieces there that get the job done pretty effortlessly! For only $30, the package already comes wrapped and ready to gift too!

Lastly, there is a new product – The Limited Edition True Original Hair and Body Wash for men. I’ve brought it with me to the gym a couple times, as it is a great space saver and all-in-one product! The scent isn’t too manly either, it’s just convenient when you’re in a rush!

I hope you enjoyed this round-up for Mary Kay Fall 2015 products as well as a sampling of their Holiday 2015 offerings! I look forward to updating you with my thoughts on the microdermabrasion set, as well as sharing more Holiday products soon!
