Noon by Noor Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show

A couple of days ago, I attended my first show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. The label was Noon by Noor, a new brand designed by Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa, based in Bahrain. It was the brand’s third collection to be shown at MBFW, and as I took my seat, I noticed a huddle of photographers gathering around a first-row attendee. She moved her head to the side, and I realized it was none other than Solange Knowles. The brand has been worn by other A-listers including Sarah Jessica Parker. A few seconds later, the crowd quieted down as Robin Thicke’s song of the summer blasted and the girls walked out, wearing flirty feminine frocks.

Floral details and appliques were clearly the centre of the collection. Leather jackets had tulle and leather rosettes, and peachy cocoon coats were covered in dreamy tulle roses. It’s the kind of girly wardrobe you can look forward to after a long winter.

The collection started with printed separates and dresses, featuring dainty floral and a mix of tropical palm tree prints.

The collection moved into elegant separates, including coats that were covered in beautiful rosettes. The pieces were girly, yet minimalist in solid colours and structured shapes and materials. I fell in love with the light pink beaded skirt, proving that pink is a trend that will go strong into the next season.

The look is dramatic and a happy medium between formal couture and streetstyle. I can easily see someone like Olivia Palermo or Anna Dello Russo in that look!

I was so happy to have caught the Noon by Noor show, because it was exciting to see an emerging label send a concise and beautifully crafted collection down the runway. They are definitely ones to watch with their celebrity following. Currently their designs are sold online and in department stores in the Middle East.

This collection has some great pieces! I can’t help but notice how unimpressed some people are who sit right in the front. Great pictures you took though!

thank you! that can be so typical of the front row though, most of the people I talked to really liked the feminine line, but then again NY style is a bit darker and more minimalist.
