Last week, I attended Rev PR Faves event which was a fall 2014 preview of a few international and Canadian fashion brands, including Hatley, Pajar, BaByliss and Penningtons.
Pajar is a Montreal-based brand that offers a wide line of winter footwear. I was surprised to learn many of their options are made in Canada and in Europe, including the lined mens’ suede boots. One pair that’s definitely on my wishlist for harsh Ottawa winters are the boots with flip out ice grips. I also liked the more elegant tall boots which feature sheepskin lining and are still waterproof!
Hatley is one of the few Canadian fashion brands that has international success as a children’s clothing brand. I loved their cute printed pyjamas and have bought a few for my dad and for the cottage over the years. Their style is cozy, and humorous and for Fall, there are a couple new prints and classic Canadian motifs.
Penningtons is a plus-size retailer in Canada, and I fell in love with that quilted faux leather skirt, which is perfect for both work or a night out. This fall, they are adding a new line, mblm, which features both a rocker and more casual, bohemian aesthetic.
In beauty, Rev PR showcased Satin Smooth’s new line, including a simplified skincare routine and their HydraSonic cleansing brush. What makes this cleansing brush different than the Clarisonic or others on the market is that it is fully waterproof, so you can take it into the shower, and it has an LED screen with a guide to help you exfoliate your skin. The guide shows you where to cleanse and will vibrate and indicate where you should cleanse next. The brush comes with three heads; normal, sensitive and a body option. The whole routine only takes 90 seconds, and is great for combatting both dry and oily skin, and minimizing the look of wrinkles and large pores.
BaByliss featured their new Italia Brava professional luxury dryer, which features a Ferrari motor and 1875 watts of power. Made in Italy, this dryer hums like a racecar and smoothed down flyaways even on dry hair. I’ve had a t3 dryer for a couple years, but I find that it doesn’t dry as fast anymore. This dryer promises 15 per cent faster drying and 10,000 hour life, which would make this the perfect tool for hair professionals or beauty addicts!
For the home, I checked out Linen Chest’s display which featured more home decor than sheetsets like I remember! Linen Chest is in the process of re-branding and just opened a massive store in Toronto’s trendy Stockyards area, and now stocks home decor, small appliances like the Nespresso coffee machine and even matresses. They have an online shop, and I fell in love with those bulldog book ends! Also recently launched is LC Living, a lifestyle blog with recipes and decor ideas.
I enjoyed checking out these Canadian fashion brands, and what’s in store for next season!
