Roxy Spring/Summer 2013 Lookbook

Believe it or not, in only a week, I’ll be off to Mexico again to spend Christmas with my family. While I can’t wait to soak up the sun again (I can’t stand winter’s cold) I’m already starting to pack a whole new suitcase full of items perfect for sand and sun. For some inspiration, here’s some of my favourite outfits from Roxy’s Spring/Summer campaign… sadly, not available until February… which means it comes just in time for Spring Break!

The lookbook features pieces that go from surf to turf, including cotton sweaters, breezy skirts and dresses, and of course, their iconic athletic-centred swimwear. I had a chance to check out some of the pieces at a press event hosted by Lotusleaf in November, and fell in love with some of the pieces.

At the very top of my wishlist is this top, $78, aptly titled, “macrame madness.” I love the way you can layer it over a swimsuit for a fun beach coverup or wear it over jean shorts for a look that screams, Coachella.

Another look I’m loving is this cropped tankini, $38, paired with these sunburners printed pants, $64. I love the idea of pairing a crop top with fun denim for a look that shows a little, not a lot.

I love Roxy bathing suits for their athletic construction, because as Kelly Estell from Roxy says, Roxy swimear is still designed for the surfer girl. While I’m nowhere near a surfer girl, I love spending time in the water, and recently fell in love with snorkelling. This bathing suit, $50 for the top and $39 for the bottom, combines practical construction, while staying on trend with its padded bra-like cups.

I’m also a big fan of one-piece suits, and this graphic chevron design, $86, is fun and functional as well.

Summer sweaters are a smart thing to bring on a winter vacation… Versatile enough to be worn on the plane to keep you warm, stylish to wear when it gets colder at night, or you can jump on the trend of wearing thin, cotton sweaters over bathing suits and shorts for a cool look. From top, newest leaf sweater, $64; shadow holly sweater, $67; feelin bright sweater, $74.

A long, gypsy skirt or pair of palazzo pants are the perfect look to wear for a luau. This fringe bikini, $48, and above deck 2 skirt, $52 is a modern and wearable take on your traditional Hawaiian grass skirt.

It’s no secret that I love eyelet, this sunny yellow elkhorn top, $42 is perfect paired with the to be found graphic maxi skirt, $74.

This fringe tee, $32, is a great lounge shirt for covering up after a swim.

World waiting maxi dress, $67.

Poppy lights asymmetrical striped maxi dress, $57.

All the dresses in this collection are versatile and elegant. They can be dressed up with statement jewelry for a night out, or casual enough to wear to go exploring ruins or the towns nearby. However, this white dress steals my affection. With its simple spaghetti straps and delicate lace panel inserts, it is elegant and feminine. What I really love about it, is that Roxy has updated the standard white cotton beach dress with an analogous hem. Dress, night shine, $67.

Whether you’re looking to fill your suitcase with an entire beach wardrobe, or looking for some inspiration, Roxy’s Spring 2013 collection is on point with their laid back and girly approach to beachwear.

Here are some photos I took from the press days preview last month:

I am in love with this bathing suit. Similar to the hot pink one above, the elegant black and white bird print is tropical and vintage looking. I love bra-shaped bikini tops because they give the perfect amount of boost.

How cute are these neon canvas boat shoes? The perfect option if the beach is rocky.

These trucker-style hats aren’t exactly my style, but I love the mustache one!

And last, but definitely not least, here’s a sneak peek of the back of the macrame madness shirt. I love all the intricate fringe and woven detailing. It’s almost hard to believe it’s just a t-shirt.

What’s on your shopping wish list for Spring 2013?
