Sweater Weather

It’s officially sweater weather! In Canada, the transition from summer to fall is always abrupt. The days get shorter and you can go from leather sandals to riding boots overnight. Besides the beautiful colours and warm food, I always look forward to breaking out my favourite sweaters and boots for a cozy fall look.

I wore this comfy and casual look for a day exploring the city of Ottawa when my sister came to visit last weekend. We spent the day taking photos at landmarks and touring Parliament Hill, capped off with a yummy burger at Byward Market. On our way, we stopped to take some pictures at the Mackenzie King Bridge, which is a must if you’re looking for the perfect backdrop of Ottawa. With both the Peace Tower of Parliament and the Chateau Laurier in one vantage point, the bridge over the Rideau Canal is the perfect spot to snap a picture.

To inaugurate sweater weather, I’m wearing a cream Layered pullover sweater from Tommy Hilfiger, jeans from American Eagle, high-top Gazelle sneakers by Adidas, a MAB tote by Rebecca Minkoff from Nordstrom Ottawa, berry Lip Lure c/o Pur Minerals, and accessorized with a statement necklace from J. Crew.

I fell in love with this Tommy Hilfiger sweater, with its attached faux shirt at the bottom, it can easily be worn with leggings on lazy days, or layered under a tweed blazer for a preppy look. I also like the oatmeal colour and the fun print of the shirt below.

My Rebecca Minkoff MAB tote is a new favourite. The beige saffiano leather is sturdy and durable, and goes with anything in both my summer and winter closet! I love how the shape can hold my 13” Macbook for school, or be dressed up with a cute dress and heeled boots for date night.

As we embrace sweater weather this October, I’m looking forward to wearing waterfall cardigans, cashmere sweaters and simple Merino blends. I’m also looking forward to layering these pieces under summer dresses to make a perfect transitional wardrobe. This Thanksgiving weekend, you’ll find me wrapped up in an oversized sweater, tea and readings in hand. I wish everyone celebrating the holiday a lovely weekend with their friends and family!

I’ve also rounded up a few great shopping deals & shopping codes to take advantage of for Canadian Thanksgiving:

  1. Canadians shop duty free at Saks this weekend with purchases over $100.
  2. Take advantage of 50% off at J. Crew Factory.
  3. Enjoy free shipping over $21 at Forever 21 Canada (PS I already snagged this real suede button front skirt!)
  4. Enjoy 20% off dresses at Anthropologie!
  5. Take 25% off sale at Kate Spade with code SWEET. This little blue bag and this gold bracelet are on my wishlist!

Have a lovely Thanksgiving long weekend! Enjoy the official start to sweater weather!

It’s definitely sweater weather, unfortunately in my part of the world, sweaters alone aren’t enough 🙁

Thanks for your comment! oh sweaters are not enough here either in Eastern Ontario, Canada 🙁 Always layering under wool coats and scarves, so I cherish the few days when you can just wear a sweater! Where are you from? xo, Natalie
