Chanel Cruise Collection 2013

Versailles. The stomping grounds of Kings, Queens and of course, couture. Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his 2013 Chanel Cruise collection yesterday, and it was a spectacle fit for the Royal Court.

There was no doubt some 18th Century inspiration. The frilly décolletage and tiered lace sleeves seem to echo Marie Antoinette… but the bottom seems to suggest a take on 18th Century menswear.

The collection was shaken up right before the presentation, and Lagerfeld injected some urban edge with denim, leather and casual silhouettes. This was done only a week after last week’s election in France, and to reflect the new left-wing government. Karl himself deemed it “Versailles in a socialist France.”

Monochromint

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, here’s a look that’s entirely green… well, a shade of green. My favourite hue of the season (possibly all time), mint!

I’m wearing a mint blazer from H&M, a chiffon blouse, also from H&M, and Zara skinnies. I love these jeans, and I have to snatch ‘em up in yellow and coral as well.

My favourite accessory are my vintage turquoise suede smoking slippers… a treasure found in my mother’s shoe room. Yes, she has a room for her shoes. I took them with me to Europe, knowing they’d look perfect frolicking between the tulips and along the cobblestones of Rome.

To match the look, I’m also wearing a mint crossbody purse, a gift from my mother.

The latest addition to my arm party is this rope bracelet from Paris. I love the Eiffel Tower charm and the way it compliments my rosegold watch.

This look wouldn’t be complete without a pistachio macaron from Laduree! Even though rose petal is my favourite, the pistachio looks so cute with my outfit. Pastries matching outfits? I think yes.

Have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day! I’ve already got my drink on, with a glass of Pinot accompanying my blog post-writing and essays.

Chiffon Dreams

Chiffon Dreams… this look was inspired by the falling leaves.  Chiffon is weightless and has so much movement, it reminds me of the way the leaves dance this time of year.

I’m wearing a vintage nude chiffon blouse, that has gorgeous lace details.  I think it might have been an undergarment, but I love the underwear as outerwear trend.  I’m wearing nude shoes from Zellers- they have leopard printed soles and are irresistible!

My bag was a birthday gift from a friend, but I love the elegant tassle and bejewelled handle.  My skirt is from Forever XXI.  At first, I wasn’t too keen on mixing blush colours with a dirtier mustard, but I think it compliments the vintage, old fashioned look I’m going for.
