WayHome festival style

This weekend, I went to WayHome 2016 for a weekend of fun under the sun with an incredible lineup of musical artists. I wanted to share my WayHome festival style from the weekend, as well as some tips on how to dress for a music festival.

Before, typing in the phrase “how to dress for a music festival” would bring up flower crowns and cut-off jeans. Nowadays, flowy dresses, gladiator sandals and cool-girl chokers have taken over the scene. My WayHome festival style veered more towards chic than shabby.

On Saturday, I wore a Zara dress (similar flowy dress here), a straw panama hat from Joe Fresh, mirrored sunglasses c/o Clearly, a turquoise and shell choker from Mexico and sandals from Athens (similar here).

On Sunday, I kept things a little more boho, with a crocheted crop top from 6ixstitch, a denim skirt from Forever 21, and sunglasses c/o Polette.

Both of these outfits kept me cool and comfortable. The dress I wore on Saturday was so breezy and very comfortable for a long day out, dancing in the sun. My gladiator sandals were really comfortable, but next time, I would opt for little booties because the grounds were so dusty! Let’s just say that wet wipes are a must in my festival handbag.

On Sunday, my crocheted crop top was so cute and kept me cool – surprisingly. The 100% cotton yarn is washable and the style was breezy. My denim skirt was super comfortable, and I chose to cover my toes with a pair of moccasins.

My favourite acts of the weekend were Arcade Fire and Major Lazer. The fireworks at the end of Arcade Fire’s set were pure magic. Another fun moment was riding the ferris wheel and getting a whole view of the festival grounds. I suffer from vertigo and motion sickness, so I was a bit nervous hopping on the ferris wheel, but I’m so happy I didn’t chicken out in the end.

As for camping, I only could stay one night, and ended up sleeping in my car. I’m a princess, I know! Next time, I definitely want to stay at WayCamp – which was decked out in adorable teepee style tents. In the end though, I loved the community vibe, it was definitely a cool experience – port-a-potty’s aside!

I also had the chance to experience the VIP section, and loved the beautiful vintage barn where I took part in Equinox yoga classes which were great for detoxing from late nights! I’m eager to check out their full schedule in their newly-opened Yorkville gym.

I bumped into a few friends at the festival, including Sydney from Treats & Treasures. I loved her gorgeous romper and on-trend half-bun hairdo which was great for keeping hair at bay with the heat and wind. Also, she’s a genius for wearing booties! I was regretting my decision all weekend…

I’m excited to share more of my WayHome festival style in an upcoming vlog, I hope this post gave a quick glimpse into the festival and an overview of how to dress for a music festival.

… I’ll find my way home next year again.
