In Canada, our winters are long, icy and cold. A good pair of boots will keep you going throughout the season, but there’s no reason to sacrifice style. I’ve wanted a pair of Blundstone boots for a while, as they are practical, made of waterproof leather and look more streamlined than most winter boots. I always asked myself, how to wear Blundstones… but I’ve been surprised by how versatile they are!
This pair is from Union Jack Boots which stocks a lot of Blundstone boots in a bunch of colours! I chose the black chisel toe, because they are more refined, feminine and feel a bit dressier. I was thinking of getting them in brown, but I am so happy I chose to go with black. I find for a woman, they are more versatile and black Blundstones pair well with leggings, tights and jeans!
How to wear Blundstones with skinny jeans
I wore my Black Blundstones with skinny jeans for a casual weekend look. My jeans are from Zara and feature a raw hem (a huge denim trend!) and rip at the knee. I love the acid wash finish, and I find it compliments the shape of the boot.
I also wore the Blundstone boots with a grey turtleneck from Old Navy, and a mint coat from SheIn. For accessories, I wore my purple mirrored Ray-Ban aviators and my new 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli medium bag in Raspberry.
Here is where the styling comes in. Balance the boots and jeans (a pretty casual combo) with a colourful coat or top and fun bag! The pastel colours soften the edgy look of the boots. I love wearing Blundstones with a pair of leggings and a cute floral blouse. It’s the mix that makes them look effortless!
Tips for buying Blundstone Boots
There are many styles of Blundstones so it’s a good idea to determine what shape you want. I personally love the Chisel toe on men or women. It’s streamlined, and a bit more “rock and roll.” The round toe is great if you’re looking for comfort, or typically wear round-toe boots.
As for sizing, I’ve read that the half sizes offer more width than length. I wear a size 8.5 shoe, but usually go up to a size 9 in boots. To determine Blundstone sizing for women, take your regular size and add 3. So I went with a size 6 AUS. I find they are a bit big (and apparently will stretch out), however I did this on purpose. Blundstone boots come with an extra insole to layer up, and I added my own insole to make them even more comfortable. On colder winter days, I also like to add a sheepskin insole for warmth, so the extra space for that and wool socks is much needed!
Overall, these boots are versatile, waterproof and with a bit of experimentation, can be a very stylish pair of winter boots to add to your collection.
